2nd one in two weeks

Replaced a GE 1.4 that was 6 years old and had made multiple cross country moves. The 1st one was the stainless steel cabinet which was thin & very floppy on the top. The fan/motor was excessively loud compared to the old microwave. Returned the microwave and bought another GE in white. The cabinet is thicker than the stainless steel, isn't floppy on top and does not rattle. The fan/motor is still excessively loud, but not as loud as the stainless steel cabinet. The sound is like it is winding up but never reaches full spend. Both units had/have excessive condensation inside and at the back left exterior side. There is more attention to cleanup required for these units. Otherwise, they heat quite well.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

reliable product with a few quirks

I bought this product because I have owned it in the past. This one has been in use for 2 months and I recently noticed a squeaking noise, decidedly from the turn table. The roller ring beneath it is clear of debris, so if it gets worse, I may need to request a replacement. The buttons are noticeably harder to activate on this microwave than others. Sometimes you need to press them over and over. Overall I like the design and size. We tend to buy GE appliances because they last. The last time I bought this model it stopped working suddenly after 15 years.

I bought this to replace a 650 watt Goldstar oven I bought like 29 years ago that finally died. I had wanted a higher wattage, but shopping microwaves showed me that other ovens had odd keypads and this one was much more to the point. I like it and the beep is something I was concerned about. I quite often cook around midnight or 1 a.m. and don't want to disturb my neighbors. This one's beep isn't obnoxiously loud or anything! I like it!
