Compact Unit With Great Features

We were looking for a "white" microwave oven (which are hard to find) which was compact with simple button features. This unit fit the bill.

Good and Bad

This is my second JES1145SHSS microwave. The first was purchased in 2016 and was the "white" model and recently had a failure of the keypad/control. The microwave would not turn off unless the door was opened or the appliance unplugged. I searched for a replacement and was underwhelmed at the choices available in the size and functions I wanted. While I experienced failure, I chose the same model again because it had the features I wanted and the price point I wanted. I purchased online to expedite the purchase, choosing to go to a local store and pickup as a will call item. Without giving thought to color, I chose the stainless steel option. Be forewarned that the keypad is all but invisible unless the room is well lit. See accompanying picture. This was taken under normal room lighting and without artificial lighting, unlike the "stock" image. I have reason to believe the stock image has been retouched to lighten the control panel buttons since the background of the buttons is a lighter tone then the microwave door. Clearly in my photo the two are the same. Had I known before I purchased, I would have opted for the white model. In an appliance like this, and for the cost, I want function over aesthetics. It is an advantage to have owned the same model previously in white, because I know what buttons to use by memory. If I can get more than three years out of this one I will again say this appliance is average, only because it is not durable. Otherwise I would rate the model in white a five because it really has nice features for the price.
