Easy set up.

I’m almost 70 so I look for simple yet functional appliances. I have several GE appliances and they are durable and reliable. So when my 700 watt microwave gave up the ghost I went and found this 950 watt GE and I brought it into my house, unpacked it, set it up and made my dinner. Excellent !
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great except for the display

This microwave is large and extremely quiet. It is easy to clean, attractive and cooks food very well. However, the display panel is not backlit so it is extremely difficult to see. I have to turn on the lights, even in daylight, to read it. This is definitely a drawback for older users.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Works but keypad unlit/difficult to see.

The microwave works, but the unlit keypad makes it very difficult to see what I'm entering. Also there are too many key strokes necessary to enter a cooking time to the second place. Also, the button that you must press to open the door is very difficult to press. I don't recommend this unit if you are elderly or if you intend to have elderly people use it.

We always strive to make products with the highest quality possible, so we will make sure that the appropriate teams are aware of these concerns regarding the keypad and door latch for future design consideration.
If you find that your microwave door is harder to close than your previous model, the difference is due to a firmer spring in the door latch, and this is a normal condition for the microwave.

Reliable Design for years

We’ve been using GE 1.1cuft microwaves for years. From my first home in 1992 until now, we are in our 3rd of the similar design. Recently replacing heavily used unit from 2013
I would recommend this to a friend!

Like the style & size; easy to operate; a 2 1/2 qt. Casserole dish fits! Like others, the control panel is impossible to see (which then infers operate) at night…even before night. I have a mini-flashlight nearby to help. That’s been an issue for quite a while. That should have been fixed. Instead new consumers are still dealing with it. Disappointed about that. Big-time disappointed.

So LOUD

The microwave looks nice and heats well but it is LOUD. It is much louder than the 20 year old GE microwave I was replacing. I am wondering if there's something wrong with it.
