Solid Upgrade

I bought this as an upgrade to the 10 year old version of roughly the same model (1.1cf, 1000w) due to size restraints based on the custom shelf it was sitting on. It sits a little taller than the old one, the button configuration is a little counterintuitive — ‘time cook’ is the farthest it could possibly be from the numbers, and it is way louder (my hope is that the loudness diminishes as the microwave itself warms up — it was in my cold car overnight).

Disappointing

Had a GE microwave for almost 20 years, so figured when it needed replacement, I'd go with GE again. Very disappointed with this one. Door doesn't open easily... push the button and the entire oven moves. No "add 10 seconds" feature like the old oven. All the time controls are counter-intuitive. Just a poor product. The whole point of a microwave is convenience, and this one flunks that test.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We bought this when we remodeled our kitchen. The first one lasted about 2.5 years and we really don’t use it heavily, so I thought that maybe we just got a lemon. Of course the one year warranty was up. Than I just bought another one exactly the same hoping it would last a long time. This one lasted a month and I called customer service. They are now sending me a coupon to purchase a new one. Of course the sale on this unit was last week and now is over and I’m still waiting for this coupon. I really like the style of this microwave and it fits our kitchen well. I hope the third time is a charm. All of our other GE appliances work great and the reviews on this unit are great.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Works very well

Have been using this for a few months now and it works great. Purchased this to replace an older failed unit (different brand) that was higher wattage and, honestly, I notice no difference in cooking time. Also, compared to our previous microwave, this unit is very quiet.
