Almost everything about this GE Micro wave is good. But the control panel is so faintly colored. It is very hard to read. All the number buttons, the clear button, the 30 second button, ALL the buttons should be a brighter white so it can be easily seen.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I was looking for a replacement of my 27 years old GE microwave (JEM27LWH, build in), that is still working but it may be the time to look for a new one. Well, there is not a good replacement from GE for the size and build in type, so I picked up JES1145SHSS instead, just put on counter. It is a good looking mid size counter top microwave with a decent price that I can replace it 3 times still less than the possible build in replacement in GE. but I know this one will not last as long. The door open/close is heavy and louder than my old one. Sometimes rotation plate or motor make a few sound that should not be there, but after a few weeks, it seems went a way. I have noticed a smell sometime after heating food (30 sec) that made me want to check if anything is burning, but then see nothing wrong. It happens randomly. It is more powerful (950 vs. 800 watt) than my old one and with rotation table, so has its advantages. Overall, I will recommend this product.

We just started using it, and it seems to work OK so far. Instructions were confusing about setting power level. Control panel is difficult to see, even with kitchen lights on.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
