I wish you could develop a program that could transfer like information throughout my return. I have home offices. I would like to input the overall costs of my home into a form and have that information transfer (taxes, insurance, mortgage...) ALso auto information for various jobs.
I will be looking for such a program and one that allows me to save my return on my desk top.
What's great about it: guided questions
What's not so great: updates were difficult....spent an hour trying to get them to work, no way to save returns year to year, the informatio
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I have used Turbo Tax every year for the past 6 years and have always liked how it helps me fill in the blanks. I have used it the last two years for State income tax returns too which takes the effort out of the whole process.

What's not so great: None

I am a certified AARP volunteer for the IRS - TCE (Tax Counseling for the Elderly) / VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) preparer programs. A note: the IRS uses their own tax preparation program called TaxWise.
When I am in "training" each year to be a certified preparer, I am constantly making the comment, "I wish we could use Turbo Tax - it so much easier to use" or when I'm actually preparing client returns, I think "I wish I could tuck a copy of Turbo Tax under my arm and sneak it into this facility - sadly not".
Turbo Tax has a GREAT interview process, . . . You don't have to know anything about 'doing' taxes, inorder to successfully prepare your own taxes. Where as, using TaxWise, you have to 'know', what every FORM is and what goes on each form - - i.e., 1040, 2441 #credit for Child and dependent care#, 8863 #Education credits#, 8880 #Retirement savings contributions credit#, 8812 #Child Tax credit, both non-refundable and refundable#, Sch A, Earned Income Credit #EIC#, etc.
Yes, and both Turbo Tax and TaxWise - e-file.
#signed# - Love Turbo Tax
What's great about it: Great interview process, . . .
What's not so great: Talking me thru the Tax process (sometimes) takes, a long time.
