Ease of Using

It seemed so simple to use. If you can read you can follow the instructions. This year was the smoothest and effortless in doing my taxes.
What's great about it: Much easier to use than last year. Following the format was simple

I have worked with CPA tax programs and this program was easier. It answered all of my questions so I felt confident that I was doing it correctly.

Itemized deductions vs. Standard deduction

When a taxpayer itemizes but is just short of the standard deduction, the program does not elaborate on that subject. What I mean by that is: If you itemize, and live in a state that requires you to file a state return, then the itemized deduction may be a better option for you even if it's a LITTLE lower. Reason being, if you take the itemized deductions........that carries over almost in it's entirety (depending on the state) to the state return. If you take the STANDARD deduction on the federal return, you must take the standard deduction on the state return. The problem with that is the state's standard deduction DOES NOT MATCH AND IS MUCH LOWER than the federal standard deduction. So you could benefit on your federal return by a few dollars but owe the state, or have a much reduced refund from the state. Do you see what I mean?
What's great about it: The walk through is pretty complete
What's not so great: Program does not tell taxpayer itemized may be better even if lower than standard deduction

Excellent Tax software

I've used Turbotax for years now and I've recommended it to all my friends and family. It is impossible for anyone to get it wrong when you follow the easy step by step instructions. It is written for the average person. Even if you've never done it before.
What's great about it: How easy the software makes filing
What's not so great: There are no cons. Except that it really spoils you for future filings.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Once again Intuit pulled all together and filled in the blanks. Definitely Quicken helps to organize data, you need to make sure you categorize correctly. Otherwise great program and makes my life easier!
What's great about it: Pulls everything together
What's not so great: Misses a few things
