Improved access to features makes TurboTax easier to use than ever. I have used TT for many years and appreciate the easy walk-thru guides as well as entry and review process.
1.Turbo would not accept the Medicare Tax Witheld produced from the Hospital that provided the same Medicare Tax Withholding. The dit not provide the fix. I had to add $499 Medicare Tax against the prevouse simlar yeats. The change automaticaly sent the Fed Tex - there was now way to review it. It was not accepted after Turbo's "FIX"? 2. The "State Records" were worth zero for New Hampshire. They provided no information and no forms to use. 3. It took 6 tries to send in the Federal Tax over 5 hours of effort, unlike prevous like previous years. I was three more hours from not being able by taxes.
What's great about it: Good organizing for first steps
What's not so great: Several problems to complete and send the taxes.
It was really an easy process once you had all the data gathered. The only change that I would like to see would be that each deduction topic have amount you needed to have spent that year in order for it to impact your refund. It would save entering a lot of information that was of no use in the end. Could have just skipped those items.
What's great about it: As long as you follow the guide, it walks you through every step
What's not so great: No clues as to minimal amounts needed to obtain more refunds
I've used Turbotax and its predecessors for more than 15 years and never had a problem. This way I have a very solid understanding of what my finances look like. What I like to do is to put in my info, make a print out and have an accountant review it for me. I haven't had problems with Turbotax, but a few times I've filled in the info in the wrong column or something so I like to have another pair of eyes take a look. Compared to having an accountant do the whole thing, this is great. Our home office deduction is one that I rely on Turbotax to sort out for me, among other things.
What's great about it: Easy to fill out and file
What's not so great: I'd like to import info from 1099s online rather than entering them.
