I do not like the changes ovdr the years. and the expense is not comparable to a tax person. I do not think I will use it next year.
What's great about it: no math errors
What's not so great: do ot like that it does not show actual tax form while working tax return
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I am out of town and I gathered the paperwork I thought I needed. The step by step procedure, although it can be tedious, got me through and I was able to accomplish it in several hours.
What's great about it: Takes you step by step
What's not so great: none that I can think of....
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Survived one more year!

TurboTax walked me through Fed and 2 states. The retirement funds from one state are not taxed by the other state. TurboTax helped me find deductions that I had forgotten to use. I'll get TurboTax again next year.

Great overall
on April 15, 2014

Overall very clear. Easy to navigate back and forth and switch to forms to see individual line items on form to be filed.
In the review function the program returns to the individual input line. It was difficult to understand what to do-- Never figured it out.
Completed return easy to file, save etc.
What's great about it: Clearer and clearer every year. easy back and forth
What's not so great: Sale of auto and purchase of new one was not clear. Review goes to forms. Should return to question format to fix prblm

Great but buggy

Usually this is easy and it generally was. However, on several areas that I know I covered in the Step-by-Step the entries did not carry forward. They were caught by the review and myself and hand entered on the actual forms.
What's great about it: Quick filing and good help
What's not so great: Some items did not enter and I had to go back to manually enter them.

Inventory/COGS
on April 15, 2014
Posted by: NutritionLady
I ended up having to enter my beg of year inventory to be the same as end of yr inventory to get the COGS to enter correctly. I shouldn't have to tinker with the beg/ending inventory to get the total amount of COGS (which I knew from quickbooks) to carry over for my total COGS deductions. For some reason, mine kept reverting to approx $1500 vs. the actual $15,000 that I spent on COGs. This needs to be addressed.
What's great about it: none
What's not so great: Not carrying over COGS
