Best program out there

As an accountant and tax professional (15+ years) I have experience with many different tax programs and come back to Turbo Tax every year. I have done side by side comparisons with other tax software and Turbo Tax wins every time. I have worked for some of the big name tax preparation companies and had the opportunity to do side by side comparison's with their programs also and have found that Turbo Tax has gotten me a larger refund or smaller amount due every time.
What's great about it: Ease of use, covers everything
What's not so great: None

Need to recognize the family members

I have Turbo Tax Home and Business as one of the returns i will be completing as a Sch C associated with it, however, I also complete my son, daughter and mother's returns with the software, all 1040EZ filers. Up front you ask my son's occupation - student - and then ask if he can be claimed as a dependent on someone else's return - yes - you then jump into the business questions (ok, he may run a lemonade stand) but then to go through the itemization questions even asking if he owns his own home - at 16 years old! You need an easy out to these areas of the program for the simple returns being done with it.
What's great about it: Free efile, completed return
What's not so great: Way to complicated for the family simple returns

Used Turbo Tax for Years

I use both TurboTax Business and TurboTax Home and Business to cover serveral personal and business tax returns.
I really like the step by step guidance through tricky tax territories.

Business Taxes - so easy

This is about my 10th year using TurboTax. I have a full time day job and a nighttime side business (mostly internet sales). TurboTax makes it very easy to do my own taxes and feel 100% sure I am capturing everything. By going through the step by step questions, they remind me of things I might have forgotten and maximize my refund.
I also dabble in stocks started funding an IRA and TurboTax made it easy - I entered my Stock Company Name and my user name and it uploaded all of my trades, dividends received, and interest. I made a lot of small trades - but filling out the tax forms on them would have taken forever if not for TurboTax. I highly recommend using TurboTax to anyone.
What's great about it: Easy to complete & review - Just follow the steps
What's not so great: My state was not ready until February & I hate to pay to efile State Taxes (Fed efile is free)

Strong on tax weak on help section.

Been using for many years. Only run into difficulty when multiple businesses. A section describing program breakdown in area would have greatly decreased time. I fully understood forms and was able to breakdown in form content. I thought your help area was very poor in business sections but overall program is strong.
What's great about it: good for basic returns.
What's not so great: need for better tax accounting on businesses. especially multiple businesses owned by individual.

Easy to use great program for novice to a CPA!

When you click on the Explain More - keep it simple. Don't use accounting terms only. Use layman terms too. This way people can learn as they go.
I was very confused when helping my son file his taxes when it came to college tuition. A simple Do this or Don't do this would have been so much easier to understand.

Wouldn't dream of not having TurboTax

I always use TurboTax and will continue to do so. Only thing I didn't like this year was no support on form 982-took days to research this. I got a quick message that I was advised to visit a tax advisor.....ok, I get that, but I had purchased the software to NOT use one, and would've liked just a few questions to help guide me at least. This was an unusual situation and I did find help in the forum after a lot of searching. Note my own question was not answered about this. Please know that this will not discourage me or keep me from getting Turbotax next year, I definately will! I wouldn't imagine trying any other product. Thanks, Turbo Tax!
What's great about it: Carrys over from year to year, can easily use on multiple computers just by moving the file
What's not so great: a few script errors this year, sometimes if you ask a question in the forum, it's never answered.
