We are a very small business that is overburdened by insurance and tax costs. Turbo Tax provides an inexpensive but thoroughly helpful opportunity to file our taxes correctly and safely.
What's great about it: step-by-step guidance
What's not so great: none yet

All The Help I Needed
on February 17, 2014

I somehow got disconnected from the First rep, Dorian, who was patient with me as I was simultaneously dealing with a Building contractor who would not be patient. None the less I called back and spoke with Alan, and with his equal patience and knowledge of my operating system was able to guide me through finishing my e-file process. The original issue was that I was unable to e-file despite having paid for state e-file as well. He helped me clear out the original version software, download another copy and we were successful in e-filing. Thanks for great service.
What's great about it: Patient, Knowledgeable, and polite
What's not so great: None

I have used all sorts of tax software thru the years. This is hands down the easiest and produces the highest possible refund.
What's great about it: Super Easy to Work In
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Hooray -- a refund!

Everything went smoothly until the very end when I went to finish up my State Income Tax. I elected to file this myself, and I kept getting a message that I had not elected to e-file. I could not print a copy of my State Income Tax because of this hang-up. Also, you ask about the cost of the pension plan at startup. This pension plan is administered by Pension Benefit Guaranty for Eastern Airlines, who closed its doors in 1989 and subsequently filed for bankruptcy. The pension plan was taken over by Pension Benefit Guaranty, and the only figures they gave out to folks receiving pension was the amount the would receive from a negotiated settlement with Eastern.
What's great about it: Easy steps to follow
What's not so great: The pension area regarding plan cost--no figures on this

My Taxes Are Done!

I've used Turbo Tax for several years and find it to be the easiest way to get through the stress and angst of filing our taxes. The question and answer format makes sense and they always provide you with more information if there is an item or question that you don't understand. I feel that I generally understand our taxes better than I ever did - and this also helps in planning for the next year. We keep great records but all I have to do is input the information and check to make sure it is accurate. I used to get almost ill doing the taxes. Then I went to tax preparers and never understood what they were doing. Now I get it. What a blessing!
What's great about it: Easy to use and feels very stable
What's not so great: Always have to learn more, which is a good thing as well

Info from prior years

I have used turbo tax for years and you always import my prior year info. So how come when you ask me if I have any carryovers you don't already know from the prior year returns? This should be a simple fix.

Way to Go!

I/We have used Turbo Tax for about 10 years. Prior to that, I was trained by a nationally known tax preparation service. We had used them many years ago, but they got way to expensive for us. Once I completed their professional tax training course, I did our own taxes for three or four years. Our son-in-law introduced us to Turbo Tax around 2004 and we've used it ever since. I prefer Turbo Tax to the other service's computer tax preparation software. I find Turbo Tax more thorough and easier to use. When questions arise, especially about more rare or uniquely occurring situations, it's easy to get answers from Turbo Tax. As far as I/we are concerned, Turbo Tax is the greatest . . . and it's economical too!
What's great about it: Easy to use; leaves little to nothing not covered
What's not so great: Non-Cash Contribution Valuation should give option to add/set own value to items on same screen as Easy Guide items.
Pros: I moved
