makes sense to do it yourself, and it cost less

My tax picture seems to get more complex every year, but Turbo Tax once again simplified the journey. It simply seems like a waste of money to hire a professional.
What's great about it: they really walk you through everything and you can go back as needed.
What's not so great: had troubles finding how to enter a form for capital gains taxes - 10-99S
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved, I bought or sold investments

multiple State taxes
on February 19, 2014

I was completing taxes which involved income from two states. Turbo Tax makes it difficult to complete the return without buying a second State program. I was eventually able to make adjustments and completed the second state on the state forms.but your system did not make it easy. Turbo Tax should allow that not every state for which a person has income, will use turbo tax to file the tax return.
What's great about it: Not much and cost too high
What's not so great: Turbo tax works

I worked both the HRBLOCK and the TURBOTAX this year to see which would give me a better outcome. Although the HRBLOCK software was easy to use, it seemed to cut out a few of the deductions and error checks that the TURBOTAX has routinely come up with. TURBOTAX offers a greater selection of check lists and forms and easy to access to information. I LOVE TURBOTAX!
What's great about it: Easier than H&RBLOCK, faster and better!
What's not so great: Be careful in the S Corporations and Partnership areas
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Could not do it without it

I could not possibly do my taxes without this software. My only issue is that there are usually too many updates and sometimes the software will not allow e-filing because it thinks there are more updates required, but when I go to get updates, it has none.
What's great about it: Easy to Use
What's not so great: too many updates

It gets easier and easier every year! I have been using this software for many years, I buy one for our business and one for our personal taxes, It gives me a complete snapshot of the previous year and keeps track of carryovers. I highly recommend Turbo Tax.
What's great about it: Transfers all the information I need year to year
What's not so great: A little slow going through all the steps

Great except for 1 item

I had to go on line to find a way around this. I was born before Jan 1, 1946 and should have a benifit on my pension schedule.
The benifit, due to my age, was not carried over from the Federal return.
What's not so great: The Michigan pension schedule (Form 4884) should have been included in my work sheets.
