With changes this year, it was great to have the guidance in filing. Having moved, using two locations for home office/work and change a personnal residence into a rental property was a great concern. After reviewing all te worksheet and forms needed to file properly, without TurboTax, we would have been losted. It was cost effective and well as easy to do.
Customer service was also great, when a missed placed CD prompted an online download.
What's great about it: Easy to use.. step by step.
What's not so great: Very long time to reach Customer Service, but when speaking with rep.they were most helpful and professional.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments
I use TurboTax exclusively after mistakenly using a competitor's software one year because it was a little cheaper. You get what you pay for! TurboTax couldn't be any more user friendly and I am confident that it gets me my best return for my money. I don't know why anybody would use anything or anyone else.
What's great about it: easy to enter all my info, does all the math, prompts me to remember deductions
What's not so great: every year, I get an error on my business vehicle worksheet even though I go through the step-by-step directions
I did not file my State returns since Turbotax made it impossible to do(in my opinion) without my paying for audit insurance. I dont like to be manhandled as to how I spend my own money. I probably wont be using turbotax anymore.
What's great about it: Detailed with great checks.
What's not so great: Pressure to pay for audit insurance.
For the past two years (possibly three) the "walk through" doesn't ask all the necessary questions until the section on review for errors. The review process will catch errors on the return but the errors were never asked in going through the step-by-step process.
There were several things on my "Farm" part of my return that were not covered in the initial questions but came up as errors in the review.
Several years ago the option to print was exactly that - you could print your return w\hen you clicked the "Print Return." Now when you click "Print Return for filing" you have to save to PDF then go into that folder and print from there. I liked how it used to be when you had the option to print for filing and then print a copy in that window. I hate the method of printing you are using now.
What's great about it: I like the home/business version
What's not so great: Initial review misses asking questions. Do not like the printing process.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
