I highly recommend Turbo tax.
What's great about it: easy to follow. I reccomend Tubo tax
What's not so great: only the government is screwed up. This is all to complicated. Tubo tax makes it easy.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

As a retired person, with a small business that keeps me busy, who had an illness that affected my memory skills, this program was relatively easy to comprehend and complete.
What's great about it: Quck to insert and change as needed
What's not so great: None

More difficult than usual

I have used this program for over 20 years and been consistently pleased. This year we traded in a car, partially used for business, and getting that right was a nightmare. One problem was that the IRS terms were complicated: adjusted cost basis means something very specific, but not very intuitive. Another was that our state doesn't accept the larger 179 deduction and finally, rather than getting continual error messages, I chose not to include the auto on the state tax. I found it annoying when I kept being taken back to an earlier point - a point where my answers were not going to change - and to have to move through the sequence again until I reached the problem area. Although sometimes I was taken directly to the spot that needed correction. On the positive side, there was only the one problematic area, but it was a doozy. So, I spent one day or less on the basis deductions and the rest of the week trying to get the auto stuff done correctly - trying a bit each day, not all day, but it still came to many hours on the computer.
What's great about it: transfer from 2012, download charitable items, fairly clear instructions
What's not so great: Difficult to get auto trade-in and purchase correctly done

Lots of backtracking

I had to go through several sections to make sure I filled everything out correctly. As my first time filling out for a Business, I was a bit confused why some sections did to come up during the entry phases and why some numbers never showed up. Some of the explanations are either too general or note enough to the point for me to understand. It took me all day to fill out the return mostly because I did not have all information available at the same time or had to figure out where information from a form goes into TurboTax.
What's great about it: I got my Refund completed
What's not so great: Had to go back and make sure I filled out information correctly

City tax forms are very hard to work through... not sure why they have to include my w-2 information that was earned in a different city on my husband's city tax return.
What's great about it: easy to apply, most questions were easy to understand
What's not so great: city tax forms are very difficult to work through
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

No longer listing a tech support phone number is a HUGE negative for me
Saving as a pdf file without informing you it won't transfer to next year's Turbo is also a big negative
Missing pages on walk through that I only found because information was missing when file was checked is a big negative
These negatives may well make me use another form to prepare my taxes next year
What's great about it: relatively easy to use
What's not so great: misses pages when it walks you through it
