What's not so great: Still a little crazy when it comes to business expenses>
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved

Just glad to finally have the taxes done. Each year I spend a good amount of time keeping up to date with anything tax related. When it comes time to input the numbers, this program helps the process run smoothly. Time to start next years returns. . .
What's great about it: guidance questions
What's not so great: none

Better Every Year
on February 24, 2014

This software is rock solid, has saved me time and LOTS of money over the years. I have used TurboTax since 2001, and it gets better every year.
I have owned multiple businesses over the years, experienced a huge variety of tax situations, lived and worked in multiple States. TurboTax handled it all.
What's great about it: Solid - reliable - complete
What's not so great: UI - navigation to "Continue" button is funky
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Generally the tax software is getting better each year, but based on those of us who know quite a bit more about tax law, it would help to know if certain things like excess medicare tax forms, Form 6781, Form 1256, etc were developed as part of the questions and answers for returns.
What's great about it: Was Able to Do Futures Contracts Sales
What's not so great: Would have liked more prompts telling me which forms were used and like for instance did the excess Medicare Tax get cre
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

2013 Tax Year

Turbo Tax 2013 was easy to use/updated all our items and expenses seamlessly/explored every personal deduction as well as business expense as expected. It is an absolute joy to use this software as it has been the standard for our family use at least 10 of the past 20 years. I would not attempt doing a personal + business return without it.
What's great about it: As expected - easily walked me thru each of my personal and business items
What's not so great: Does get long after tiring days and sleepless nights

I've used TurboTax annually for the past 15 years. While the software has improved each year, the 2013 version seems to have overcome many of the challenges that were pervasive in previous years. Most notably, the integration with the state version is much better than in years past. No longer are you required to manually enter information directly onto the tax forms. This is a great improvement!
My only complaint is the inability to drill down on some numbers to easily determine their source. I use Quickbooks 2011 and import my business information directly into TT. However, some of the amounts related to business expenses didn't make sense in TT. I was able to go back to QB and figure out where these numbers came from (and make the appropriate corrections in TT) but it would be extremely helpful to be able to click the number in TT to view the source of the numbers and the calculations behind them.
What's great about it: Very simple to use. Very accurate.
What's not so great: Does not map perfectly to Quickbooks accounts
