Great for common stuff, rough around the edges

I've used TT for several years now, and generally I'm happy with it. It does a great job with the more ordinary and common tax situations - home office, small business, W-2, typical investments, etc.
There are some rough spots where the help screens degenerate into tax-lawyer lingo and acronyms. I ran into this in dealing with selling a car that had been used for business. I also ran into a snag this year with a lump-sum payment from Social Security for prior years - preventing it from e-filing. I messed with it and got it to go through - not sure if it's OK or not. We'll see!

Getting Less Helpful Over the Years

I have used Turbo Tax for many years. It seems like over the years it has gotten less helpful. Instead of asking questions that help you do your taxes they seem to increasingly just pass the question from the tax form onto the user without much clarification (e.g. "What is the FMV of asset 1?"). That doesn't make it that much easier than doing the paperwork yourself.
My wife and I both have small home businesses. One of the things that bothers me is that I will enter all of the utilities, repairs, etc for my home business and then have to enter the same information for my wife's business. I wish there was a level of intelligence built into the software that pulled the information from my business and populated hers.
One of these days I will get annoyed enough to search out the other tax preparation software products out there.
What's great about it: Still an effective way to figure and submit taxes
What's not so great: It is gradually getting less helpful and more technical

Again... super job.... I even have my 3 kids/young adults sold on TurboTax... Been using Turbo T for almost a decade... See you all next year!
What's great about it: Flexibility and guided tour style... very intuitive tool!
What's not so great: No cons... but would like to be led more regarding AMT... tool said did not apply... but I'd like a final note...

Gets Better and Better

Turbo Tax Home & Business is much more inclusive than Turbo Tax Deluxe.
Some actions taken are very cryptic and confusing. My concern here is 1099 Misc (personal income vs Federal Tax ID). Turbo Tax duplicated the entry, even though the instructions stated Turbo Tax would handle it and put the information where it needed to be.
What's great about it: Covers all the bases
What's not so great: Some explanations are too cryptic

Need to reenter same info

Very Annoying:

Annoying glitch detected:
When husband and wife file "joint filing separately", when both husband and wife have two separate home office businesses in two rooms in the same house, when entering 50% of mortgage interest in each of the two returns in the itemized deduction, the same 50%reduced amount is copied by Turbo-Tax in the Home Office Expense, where the full amount of the mortgage interest should be used, pro-rated by the office square footage. If the full amount of the mortgage interest is entered in the Home Office section, the mortgage interest is reflected to the Itemized Deductions section, where now is the double of what it should be. Turbo-Tax should not allow to enter only one mortgage interest, but two different one for couples filing separately.

Not the same

Difficult to navigate and find things after you passed them by in the interviews, I looked at a form for my state review but ended up not needing it, I couldn't delete it and had to fill in some information to transmit my return even though the form was blank, the application just seemed way more bulky than years past!
What's great about it: I can do my taxes
What's not so great: Navigation, couldn't delete forms
