Although this is my first review, as a small business owner I've been using Turbotax for years, still love it and the added ability to e-file during the extension period was helpful this year. Highly recommend and I'll definatly continue to use Turbotax.
What's great about it: Easy to use, convent and reliable
I deleted several charities this year and the detail required me to put an x in the detail with 0.00 for the amount or I would get an error ...there may be a way around the problem but who has time when they are in a hurry to meet the deadline.
What's great about it: Great detail which also the Con
What's not so great: If you had a detail last year it requires input or you get an error
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments
There simply is no better way to do your taxes. It 'interviews' you and you simply input the information. Great job leveraging prior years return data. Great data comparing this year to last year in a summarized and easy-to-read format - identifies potential opportunities/ issues. Really enjoy comparing to national averages for my bracket.
What's great about it: asks all the right questions through' interview' mode; so easy to switch between 'interview' & "forms' mode
What's not so great: missed one small deduction but it did trigger me to investigate it myself
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments
Overall the software is very good. Asked the pertinent questions.
However, what is lacking is an overall flowchart of the sequence of all the questions that is being asked so that the user will be able to assemble the necessary data in the order of the questions being asked. In particular in the Medical, Rental Property deduction section - its not obvious beforehand what the different deductible items are being grouped together. So a flowchart of all the sequence of questions that will be asked is available for display or printing, then one can assemble and the information before starting to enter the amounts into TurboTax.
What's great about it: Ask all the pertinent questions, provide access to most IRS publications.
What's not so great: Sometimes like playing "Dragons & Dungeons" - Not knowing beforehand what will be asked next.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
I really like the clarity with which turbo tax answers questions you may have. Its an amazing program you can either download online or from the store.
What's great about it: You can go through the steps thoroughly.
