We tried using another software a prior year (H&R Block) but were so frustrated we ended up purchasing turbotax as well and were successful where we had been unsuccessful with H&R Block.
What's great about it: assisted us with pastoral income questions
What's not so great: a fiew fields were confusing

Pretty Fast

I always find the last part of the filing process a little confusing You don't say if we still need to include the federal return with the state return when filing your state return by mail. Also the instructions on "what you need to mail" for the federal return makes no mention of needing to include your W-2 or 1099s which you clearly state you need for the state return.
What's great about it: Seems to do a lot more automatically. My state return took less than a minute
What's not so great: Not clear enough about what you need to mail in

What's not so great: not to many...and if you have a proble the online or phone service help desk can help
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I have been using TurboTax for years and they just keep improving it. I would not use anything else but TurboTax . It is very clear and precise in every step. Thank you for making an excellent product.
What's great about it: Very fast and easy.
What's not so great: I did not find any any cons.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

e-file did not work

e-file did not work. i tried for over 24 hours. went to Intuit website to try to find some answers. This issue has occurred with other turbotax customers. tried the updates 3 different times, but still no success. Finally worked after more than one day of pain. I did not want to mail taxes since i has already paid with a credit card. I have been using turbotax for more than 10 years. first time i have has problems with software.
What's great about it: none

I bought this software because I could file one free state return - that turned out not too be true, I will not use turbo tax in the future because of this. and I will Tell all of my friends the same thing,

When switching between forms and step by step unable to access supporting features if used step by step before and then went to forms. So when I wanted to add supporting info on forms had to go back to step by step. Frustrating.
Otherwise, great product and made doing my taxes so much easier especially with efile.
