LOVE TURBO TAX!

I love that Turbo Tax is so thorough and thinks of everything! We've been using this software for years and would never dream of doing taxes differently. Thank you, Turbo Tax!!
What's great about it: Thorough!
What's not so great: Long
Pros: I had a baby, My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
Wish that once you buy Turbo Tax all E-File are paid for, or a version of no E-File as well. I mailed in my returns but anyway all said and done, e-flie is better if you owe but honestly if you need your funds quick then do it earlier with e-file but otherwise mailed is best!. JR
What's great about it: Easy in and out in one day!
What's not so great: some questions are a little hard to understand but ok?
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
- TT(Turbo Tax) does not transfer all pertinent data from previous year’s return. My 2012’s tax return is on the same computer that I completed 2013’s tax return, and it’s in the ‘pdf’ format. However, I had to keep referring back to 2012’s tax return in order to provide that necessary data for the 2013 tax return. - the process that TT(Turbo Tax) uses for completing the tax returns seems to be getting more completed each year. - when going back to review or edit a section of the return that has already been entered and saved, the program makes you enter the data over again, even if there were no changes made. Entirely too much repetitive data entry.
What's great about it: TT provides step-by-step process for completing tax returns.
What's not so great: Entirely too much repetitive data entry.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
I have used TurboTax for several years. It makes the task easy and gets me more money that I ever would have found. it is also cheaper than a tax preparer which has no better results.
The program is difficult to navigate when you want to go to a certain section, whether forward or backward. it's okay for only one or two pages, but not several.
I would sure like a list of things I should have with me before I start doing my return. I say this every year, but I don't see where they have added hints like this. so every year and run back and forth from my computer and my desk to look up things.
What's great about it: Really helps walk through a tax return.
What's not so great: program is difficult to navigate anytime you want to go back more than a couple of pages.
This is my third year of using Turbo Tax. I debated if I should use it this year, because my financial situation had changed. However, using Turbo Tax was very easy in the past, I felt that I could always use a tax preparation service if I ran into trouble. I found that it was just as easy this year as in the past. I look forward to using it next year.
What's great about it: Turbo Tax was easy to follow. It gave very specific information most of the time. Populated identifying information.
I had a complex return, involving three states, multiple partnerships, and a lot of details. You made that part as easy as it could have been.
On the downside: There were numerous places where I was asked to enter a number or piece of information on the NJ or Oklahoma taxes that was available on the Federal screens, but after I went to the federal forms to get the info I had to click thru all the state questions again (8-10 minutes worth---EVERY TIME!) and **REPEAT** all the answers to questions, which meant I had many opportunities to answer questions incorrectly. It was just plain silly. You had the info and all you had to do was transfer it--or give me a way to view a federal form without losing my place on the state return. This was a very frustrating aspect of this process, because it happened more than half a dozen times.
What's great about it: made a complex return a lot easier
