Turbo tax makes filing my income taxes so easy. I love being able to load last years information. The scripts help me know what to look for and what I need to include. This is really a great program!!!
I've used Turbo Tax every year since it came out. I am not as impressed this year when having to deal with 2 home offices related to relocation. I think it is not friendly for anything out of the ordinary! Not impressed this year and Form 2106 needs help!
What's great about it: Put information in form last year
What's not so great: Review after payment information - i had to go through the same 10 + times
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved
I have invested in oil exploration in 2012. I could not get any good help for their CPA's on hand and had to seek out my own counsel. Oil and gas investing is huge and growing now and the software should be able to reliably advise on this complex tax situation, especially since the tax savings can be great.
For my other tax situations, such as owning a business, the software is very helpful. I appreciate the advantage of carrying forward my information from the previous year. I will be purchasing again for next tax season!
What's great about it: Is easy to navigate most tax situations. Is very easy.
What's not so great: Can be challenging for more complex investing situations.
I have used TurboTax for many years. Import works great. The questions do really find all support material required. E-filing is wonderful. I would like to see TurboTax Business available on iMac and not just PC.
What's great about it: importing data. Questions were straight forward. Being able to go back and forth between interview and forms.
What's not so great: Some support data about investment expenses was imported with the item and no dollar amount so turbotax filled in 0
I have used the product since the 1980's and have used it to do my taxes including companies, subchapter S, Partnerships and LLCs. The only issue is that it doesn't file a 1045 for loss carryback. Other than that it is a CPA in a box.
What's great about it: Intuitive, Files new forms, Gets it right
What's not so great: None
Pros: I had a baby, My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved, I bought or sold investments
