This time using TurboTax seemed better then ever. By pulling in info from last year's return it eliminated a lot of additional typing. The application also seemed to run faster than last year's version.
We have used Turbo Tax to prepare our federal income taxes for several years and have found it to be user friendly and professional looking. We especially like the fact that the returns are double checked for not only accuracy, but also for probability of being audited. Also, that you can easily go back and make changes if you need to.
What's great about it: Professional looking return that is checked and double checked.
What's not so great: Don't understand some of the IRS terminology - AMT??
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
As a high school/college umpire, tax time falls in my busiest part of the year. Turbo tax takes the pressure off, and allows me to get my taxes done and filed in a minimum amount of time. If I keep my records up to date, I can complete my tax filing in 4 -6 hours...and TurboTax walks me through the entire process. I have used TurboTax for several years, and the process has been smooth and relatively painless, it would be pain free if I didn't occasionally have to pay the IRS a little more than planned. The links to Quicken and my financial institution make gathering and importing my financial data easy. And I have plenty of "proof" should I ever be audited. I feel very comfortable using TurboTax and intend to continue using TurboTax in the future.
What's great about it: Simple to follow instructions; exceptional coverage of tax topics
What's not so great: As an independent contractor with no W-2s, but plenty of 1099 Misc, more clarification job versus business expenses
For the first time since I have been using Turbo Tax I didn't have any problems with all my deductions. All areas were easy to find and their help menus are great. I own a small business that I run from home and it helps when all areas are clear as it is with this software.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: Nothing in particular this year
