Pretty good, not bad, I can't complain...

Good step by step through the business side of the return. For a month, after I'd gotten my financial firm's tax statements and was pretty much ready to go, the program kept insisting that the
IRS and TurboTax hadn't figured out the sales tax deduction. I could, however, send a note to be notified by email when the solution had been identified and updates were ready. The notification never came. I went to the on-line help and found a suggestion that updates had to be done manually. I did that and viola, it was accomplished. What happened to the automatic updates that TurboTax used to employ? Anyways... it all worked out. I'll be using TurboTax again next year.
What's great about it: My first year in business and TurboTax Home & Business made it easier than I'd expected
What's not so great: I kept waiting for the state income tax/sales tax update notification that never came
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

The only real problem I experienced was since I could not e-file my state return I had to select the "No, I will file it later" choice. There should have been a choice "I elect to file by mail" so I could simply print the state return needed for filing. Instead, I had to go through several steps in order to print a state return to file by mail. My suggestion is that you add another choice to the list when having to select how to file a state return. I would have preferred to e-file, but I did not meet the qualifications.
What's great about it: The questions were easy to follow.
What's not so great: Online support was not as responsive as it was last year.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

TurboTax works

It would take me much longer and would require me to read and reread instructions to do my taxes without the guidance of Turbo Tax interview method. It is especially helpful to be able to pull in data from previous year.(s). The review and opportunity to correct errors or places where entries are inconsistent is also helpful. And importantly, I have confidence in the accuracy of the calculations.
What's great about it: Interview style - you input data, TT knows where it goes but also have option to select by topic
What's not so great: Difficult to modify your data once input - must go to forms to update
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Stock Transactions

It was difficult and time consuming to compare all my trades as the list in Turbo-tax was not alphabetical or in the same sequence as my brokers report. I had over 600 trades.
Provide an option to sort the trades or show them alphabetically so I can easily find them.
What's great about it: Auto loaded from Brokerage Firms
What's not so great: The Stock Trades are not in any sequence - Alphabetical

What's great about it: instructions and software didn't have glitches
What's not so great: printing is a little cumbersome but works ok

Pretty good for getting your taxes done.

My biggest problem the last three years has been getting the percentage of my home that I rent out reflected in the percentage of the expenses for my home. I rent 75% of my house (really), but I always end up manually figuring out the 75% of the expenses. TT doesn't get that right. Otherwise, it makes it very easy to calculate my business expenses, personal deductions, etc. Really saves me a ton of money by not having an accountant do my taxes. Now, I just have my final forms reviewed by an accountant.
What's great about it: Asks the right questions
What's not so great: Doesn't always work properly
