2013 Return

Have used TurboTax for many years. Guided entry is easy and excellent for new users, especially helpful for Schedule C data. Program is thorough but because it did not pull info from last year's return we went through many unnecessary sections to avoid missing something included in 2012.
What's great about it: Thorough with streamlined data entry.
What's not so great: Did not pull data from 2012 Turbo Tax return.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Installation & Printing are Slow

Installing TTAX initially took between 2 hrs and 8 hrs (I had to leave it overnight to install). It took 3 attempts to print my state return. Each time the printing was garbled after about 10 pages.
Ease of input improved somewhat this year.

What's great about it: Transferring last year's information was easy and complete.
What's not so great: Installation is slow. Printing is slow & prone to failures.

good program

This is so much easier than filling out the forms by hand. I don't know the tax code like I used to, but I don't spend a month studying it every year like I used to. The program is a great time saver.
What's great about it: works smooth, easy to understand

A struggle to get answers

I sold a second home, purchased the premier edition thinking it would help me out. It did not...I had to ask for help...and apparently you have to click a check box that doesn't have second home anywhere in the description. Because of this sale my AGI was too high I had excess Roth IRA contributions, on the first pass I only noticed it when I went to review the forms prior to filing, otherwise I wouldn't have noticed. I searched as to why because I was well under normal limits, could not find anything. Only when I went back and did it a second time did it tell me that the reason was because my AGI was too high. Also, it apparently imported something from E-trade and put all zero's in...and then it flagged. It is April 14...guess I'm filing it that way.
What's great about it: Automatic calculation
What's not so great: Hard to find answers on non-routine items
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Saved me some money!

This was a good experience in filing our Federal Income Taxes. The TurboTax experience is worth the extra money in tax savings.
What's great about it: Review to optomize deductions.
What's not so great: Nothing

Satisfactory for Simple Returns

Overall, TurboTax makes a fine product. Love the ability to search for potential errors and assess Audit Risk. However, this was a very simple return and it should be simple to file electronically. However, was not allowed to file electronically because of some supposed regulations. This is the first time I have not been able to file electronically since I started using TurboTax many years ago.
What's great about it: Ease of use and showing prior years' entries
What's not so great: Was unable to file electronically

Great Software

Program is fairly easy to use but i have been unable to find literature to help me know how to tag deductions in my Quicken software which would make it even easier in the future. I am also unsure at times where i should be entering my deductions even with there definitions of what i should enter and where.

What's not so great: Not always sure where to put deductions
