I upgraded to the home and business version of TurboTax. I was using a smaller version before. This was better for me because of the auto import feature of stock sales. I still need the step by step to assume I'm an idiot because there are still a lot of things I don't understand about paying taxes. After the version upgrade I did, it assumed I was smart enough to understand some questions. But I didn't. All in all, it was much easier doing my taxes with TurboTax.
What's great about it: The best thing about this version was the ease of importing information on stock buying and seling.
What's not so great: Had a few problems getting the home business deduction to work for me.
Good product. More information at the end about filing, printing, reviewing , saving temporarily and returning later....would be helpful. I was afraind to completely close the session and come back alter because nothing indicated that was possible....
What's great about it: Step by step instructions easy to follow, good help explanations
What's not so great: Could be a little more intuitive on how to go back and forth from section to section and page to page,
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
Program works well and automatically integrates with my Quickbooks and saves lots over hiring a CPA. Customer service is excellent and thorough, but if you wait until April 14 to call, expect a wait before you are connected.
I decided to do our taxes this year, as I have done in the past, however this year my husband started his own business. So, I got the personal and business edition of Turbo Tax. I have never done business taxes before and I believe that I did a great job thanks to Turbo Tax. It walked me through every step. Some of the tax language was a little hard to understand, but they had support to explain everything. I'm very pleased with our turn out.
What's great about it: Easy
What's not so great: Some of the language was confusing
I've been using turbo tax for my own small business and personal taxes for several years. I enjoy taking control over my own destiny and it helps me to understand better what I need to do for tax purposes each year.
What's great about it: I like the feeling I have of being in control of my return versus trying to explain myself to another person.
What's not so great: Always wonder if this is really going to work.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved
