For the most part your product is a good quality product, with the exception of a few redundancies in the programming. The other problem i had is when using the back button. Sometimes i would hit back, then it would skip multiple pages and when i started moving forward again somehow i would not end up at some of the same pages. Also this review is one of the worst i ve ever taken, I don't know how many different nicknames i ve tried, im getting angry just trying to finish it.
What's great about it: easy to enter information
What's not so great: redundancy
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

It kept me calm

I was happy with this year's Turbo Tax. I get it every year and it always gets me through.
What's great about it: Complete, easy to understand, clear
What's not so great: Not so easy to find ways to call for people who like to hear what to do rather than click a mouse over and over

I started out with MacinTax back in the day, and I'm continuing to use TurboTax every year. One year I went to a CPA friend to see if I should use his services. After looking over my situation, he advised me to save money and continue using TurboTax. (I have a lot of self-employment income and deductions, but no complicated investments or odd tax situations.)
What's great about it: Easy walk through my self-employment income
What's not so great: Finding answers to my questions, although this is getting easier and eaiser every year.

when i downloaded additional software, for example, north Carolina business and va business for real estate I own in a foreigh state, turbo tax didn't seem to transfer all the information between the two or three products. I wound up filling in the pass through entity information when it seems itr should be there already.
also. too many places where TT during a review says "this blank needs a zero of a number. if I knew these answers I'd be an accountant. I would count on TT developers to anticipate these and either make a suggestion with a reason or provide some help. thanks walter

Makes filing bearable

I use Turbo Tax in conjunction with Quicken to prepare my tax returns for Federal and the state of Pennsylvania. I have investments and a small business. This software makes tax return preparation and filing bearable. It links with banks and brokerage houses for easy 1099 download. The instructions are pretty clear and helpful. eFiling is a blessing that eliminates a lot of certified mail hassle and time.
What's great about it: Detailed instructions; data downloads from banks and brokerages; intgrates with state returns

Better each year

TurboTax gets a little better each year. Intuit seems to listen to us (I was on a users' panel for several seasons). Preparing returns is never fun, really; but the program makes it as much fun as it can be.
What's great about it: Easy data entry, clear instructions, fast!
What's not so great: None
Pros: I bought or sold investments
