What's great about it: Professional tax guide on my time!!!
What's not so great: Slow to get started.... but worth the wait!
As we Boomers age, it becomes more difficult to read small, thin text. I also have a sensitivity to bright white and like to use reverse contrast (white or gold text on black) and it doesn't work on the Turbo Tax screen. On the plus side, using the home and small business edition has become very easy to use. Low stress means it's worth it!
Upon completion of my return I was looking at the 2012 to 2013 comparison and noticed my sales tax deduction for 2013 was missing. I would think that in the review process that it would have flag this for review. I am sure I missed it the first time through and skipped it, but it should have caught it.
What's great about it: Easy walk through
What's not so great: Missed my State sales tax deduction on review
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments
Difficult to enter description of donated items that did not match your pre-described items, ie mixing board donated to church. When going back to specific areas to make changes had to go back through other areas as well to get back to review. Poor instructions for correcting data for W2.
What's great about it: Transfer of preceding years data very helpful.
What's not so great: Instructions in some areas not as clear as in past years.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
