TT 2013 Review

Having done my own taxes for more than 30 years, I got hooked on TurboTax from the first time I used it, more than 5 years ago. The interface is intuitive and the queries thorough, even with a fairly complicated tax return like mine (multiple jobs, including self-employment, multiple properties, moving, investments, rentals, etc.).
My only complaint with this year's version is that when I modified my return in EasySteps, the data did not always transfer over to the required forms, necessitating a couple of manual entries during the final error checking.
A minor glitch, which didn't cause any problems, is that occasionally it would not open up a saved return. However, if I exited the program and reopened it I was able to open the saved return.
One suggestion to improve what is already an excellent product. If you could somehow interface TT with an online search engine to automatically do informational lookups (like the correct address and/or zip code for charitable organizations) that would be a great time saver.
Looking forward to using TurboTax next year!
What's great about it: Intuitive, thorough, easy to navigate
What's not so great: A rare crash or two (although autosaved return), some minor glitches
I have always done my own taxes except while working overseas and the company did it.. I have been using Turbo Tax since 1977. I have seen the improvements each year. I had several business and Ira distributions, and investments, Turbo Tax has made it easier. Thank you Turbo Tax.
What's great about it: Fill in the blanks
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments
I found myself navigating through forms to figure out how to correct errors made in step by step. Think everything got taken care of, but had to delete some forms manually which is not a great feeling. Really hate that you can not navigate directly (easily) to update one item, but have to go through a ton of questions - a real waste of time! That said seemed to figure out all my items w/ out too much research.
What's great about it: Complete & accurte
What's not so great: Too rigid in input method. step by step not always logical
Have used TT for years. It gets easier to navigate every year. Especially like the option of going directly to form without having to retrace steps and answer same questions. Still some of that, though.
During the final check and state filing I could not get past the question regarding TP combat zone/QHDA I was a Reservist and did not serve in a combat zone or out of state. I had to enter NA for the zone and erroneous dates. I found the fix/answer in your help section, but your software should be fixed.
What's not so great: Stuck on TP combat zone/QHDA question
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
Consistently Reliable -- Been Using for 10+ Years!

I've been using TurboTax for over 10 years. Overall I like this tax program & would recommend it to most. It's comprehensive for me as a small business owner & answers most questions reasonably well. There are some topics I wish were better summarized in English vs IRS-speak, but TurboTax does a better job vs others I've tried.
What's great about it: Comprehensive; PDF Makes Return Easily Reviewable for Possible Input Errors
What's not so great: Source Referencing to IRS Documents & Summaries of IRS Docs Sometimes Cumbersome / Inadequate
Not as impressed this year because I had to search for AMT depreciation in prior year- when prior year was downloaded. Should have populated without all the angst to find.
What's great about it: Easy as always
What's not so great: Did not provide answers to depreciation questions that I would not know. Not an issue in prior years.
