I'm going to have to file for an extension, and get another package. This has so few features I do not know why they call it a business package. business need more than a 1099 generator. And, no I will not be using this again. Back to Quicken, what a mistake this was.
What's great about it: Have not found any so far.
What's not so great: NO LLC support. And does not let you select forms other than the ones it wants. Poor Help Files. Must be on internet.
Wow, how could one ever file taxes without TurboTax. There are so many rules and regs it would be impossible. I have real estate, oil & gas, a schedule C company, K-1 partnerships, kids at college, etc. and TurboTax handles it all. Ideally we would finance the government with a small sales tax or excise taxes or by leasing all the land it owns. But that would require a much smaller government. Until then you can save hundreds or thousands by using TurboTax instead of a tax accountant. Maybe the best part is that you can try different strategies and TurboTax will recalculate the innumerable forms to show you the results.
What's great about it: Allows you to easily try different strategies, counters the impossible complexity of IRS regs
What's not so great: Help is online, not in the program, facilitates ever more complex tax regs
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments
I have several family members who use my tax program once I buy it, I wish there was a way they could all efile in the program. Otherwise I like the program. I worked for 14 years for 2 different nationally known tax programs and Turbo Tax does agreat job for a fraction of the cost.
What's great about it: It took me through the areas the way it needed to be done
Turbotax kept giving me an error and I couldn't get past it. Even though I had the 1099 in hand and loaded it CORRECTLY Turbotax still thought the info was wrong and therefore I had to file by mail.
As always,. Turbotax is easy to use. There are some small glitches. It kept returning to the Schedule D form, saying that it was not et available, though it seems to have been processed and submitted correctly.
What's great about it: easy to navigate
What's not so great: did not pick up spouse's info from previous year's individual return, even though it was prepared on the same computer
I've been using Turbo Tax for years, and the Home & Business version since I've had my own business (8 years). This was the first time it didn;t automatically lead me through Schedule C and the related worksheets and forms. Once I realized that the bulk of my deductions were missing and went directly to Schedule C in "Forms", I was able to complete all of the necessary forms using last year's forms for reference. Other than this one glaring omission, the program was excellent as ususal.
What's great about it: The way it leads you through your return
What's not so great: Didn;t automatically lead me through Schedule C
