Basics are easy - complicated returns are COMPLEX
on March 6, 2014

I found my basic returns are easy. Over the years they have gotten complex and TurboTax does too!!! I like when information transfers between years, but some info is dropped (asked me if I filed a specific form last year...ugh...why didn't it transfer from previous year?#. WHEN YOU'RE STUCK...YOU'RE STUCK!!! No click to chat feature is exposed on the screen for direct assistance. Online forum-like help has a much lacking search capability. Answers need to be linked or tagged with form numbers and searching should key off tags. I received bunches of random answers for my seemingly simple questions #big thanks to GOOGLE!!!).
What's great about it: Wizard like info gathering, basic descriptions, off-line capabilities
What's not so great: No click to chat, no tag searching forums (like form number), some menus are HIDDEN!
Pros: I bought or sold investments

I had a schedule C and itemized and I thought the step by step process was very thorough. Everything was explained along the way.
What's great about it: Step by step process makes it very easy
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

As a retired tax consultant I believe that Turbo Tax is the best software out. It is very user friendly and you don't have to be an expert to use it and of course the support is outstanding.
What's great about it: I liked how easy it was to use and the fact that all the information required was taken from the previous year, a real t
What's not so great: Nothing specific
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Disappointed

I switched from H&R Block software after 20 years, thought yours is better, but it was not.. Older years by H&R Block software were the best, but the new ones are just like yours, made for beginners, Hard to jump and recalculate, I have been doing taxes since 1980, I don;t like this programe.
What's great about it: software made for biggeners
What's not so great: Slow, must take you step by step, made for rookies.

Have been using Turbo Tax for years, and like the format and guide me questions. I do think they could include the state efile in the original purchase price and save the extra hassle of paying for it as you file.
What's great about it: helpful and easy to use
What's not so great: needs to include free state efile

i really liked the ease of use this year, but it wasn't clear on what business espenses where when it came to consumable and basic building materials where they are to be intered or added. after printing a hard copy it showed up on sheet two of "Profit and Loss Business form schedule C, line 38. It wasn't clear in the prompt question that matereials could be added at that point. Otherwise it was really a great program.
What's great about it: seemed to anticipate the next question
What's not so great: didn't provide consise answers to questions

Turbotax Provides Better ServiceThan a CPA
on March 6, 2014

If your tax returns have numerous 109Delaware9 forms, TurboTax will electronically download them into the proper income tax return form. However, if your state income tax return requires you to include a copy of parts of your Federal tax return, you should not choose to e-file your state income tax return. The state e-filed return will be incomplete.
What's great about it: electronic retreival of 1099 forms issued by financial institutions
What's not so great: instruction lacking for deductions for education required by professional licensing law
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments
