EASY DONE

I was not a fan during the early years of Turbo Tax but now I recommend it all of my friends. The ease of use is most important. Being able to import your information is great. I check the returns even after TT does its thing and it is accurate. This software is a major time saver. Some people still like to use tax people to prepare their returns and they are all using software like TT.
What's great about it: Ease of use, Accuracy of Return, Amount of time to complete return
What's not so great: Started the online and did not like it, switched to hard copy

I would definetly recommend Turbo Tax to everyone. I use Home and Business and they are the best at ease of use and accuracy of knowledge.

Not so easy

What's great about it: Step by Step on the basics is great
What's not so great: More complex filings, i.e. sole proprietor and/or K-1 transposition from rec'd records to available inputs is difficult

The complexity of my personal tax returns has continued to increase. Fortunately, so has TurboTax. No problems at all.

Got me through the process reasonably easily. Turbotax and Quicken, a heck of a combination.

Turbo Tax Home and Office

Turbo tax home and office is great for a new user, but when you cant find a specific area to put a deduction, its unfortunate that you have to go back and walk thru the entire process just to find where to put it. In several cases, I knew I had seen the deduction listed, but had trouble finding the deduction again once I had rounded up the information I needed to fill in the amounts. Even a key word search would have been nice to help me get back to a deduction or the questions which required different answers. I greatly appreciate the explanations concerning what is and what is not deductible.
What's great about it: I loved the walk thru and being able to change information easily
What's not so great: There is no search engine to find where to put in deductions you left off

Turbo Tax is the third tax software I used. I found it fairly easy to use, but I have 15 years of tax prep experience. I have seen people use Turbo Tax and take deductions they were not entitled to, because they answered questions the way they thought they should answer them and not what the answer actually is.
Turbo Tax tends to give a novice a sense of well being that, in my opinion, is unjustified (no disrespect intended). For me, it was fine as I could read the IRS instructions and make sure the info I was inputting was reflected on the return correctly.
What's great about it: Software is fairly easy to use
What's not so great: Answers to questions may not provide correct tax info
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
