Millions - seven figures
on April 13, 2014

It is absolutely rediculous that Schedule's D, 8959, and E do not accept anything over $9,999,999.00. I was told that this is Turbo Tax policy but Schedule C does accept numbers in the 7 digits. SO WHY NOT SCHEDULE D?
What's great about it: Easy to use.
What's not so great: Some schedules DO NOT ACCEPT a number over 9,999,999.00
Pros: I bought or sold investments

A few notes

Keep double-checking, and switch to Forms occasionally. Generally does a good job on carryovers. Can misinterpret some things. Double-check your Schedule C and Schedule A. Never hurts to see if they "smell" right, and compare to prior year. Excellent dead-accurate import from Scottrade, saved me a lot of time.
What's great about it: Accurate, thorough.
What's not so great: Can make errors.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

2013 Home & Business TTax Review
on April 13, 2014

I like that it "walks you through" the process of preparing and filing. If you are not sure of what to do there is Help available just at the push of a button; either by tax professionals or by reading what other users have said
What's great about it: The ease and thoroughness.
What's not so great: Didn't have any.

After 13 years of having a tax preparer complete my taxes, I decided to save $400 and try Turbotax. I'm certainly glad I did. It was actually an enjoyable process. My accountant always told me my record keeping made it so easy to do my taxes and now I see why. So happy I tried Turbotax
What's great about it: simple, easy to understand, up to date
What's not so great: cost for state efile, which has nothing to do with the product, but still a con

Easiest year yet!
on April 13, 2014

We do it all. My wife works for a company. I own my own business. I travel. I invest in stocks. We still have a child in the household. Finally, we have rental property and receive mineral royalties!. That's a lot of income tax forms. Still, while using Turbo Tax, I never felt pressure with too much to do. I just did a section at a time. It worked seamlessly. Thanks, Turbo Tax!
What's great about it: Allowing me to have choices in how the program flows
What's not so great: None, this year as it seemed much more streamlined than before.

Capital loss carryforward problem
on April 13, 2014
Posted by: vtvtvt1978
Turbo Tax had an error in carrying forward the Long-term Capital Loss from last year. The 2012 return had equal amounts in both the Regular Tax and Alternative Minimum Tax fields to carry forward to 2013. The 2013 software recognized only the Alternative Minimum Tax amount. The Regular Tax was imported at 0.00. This nearly cost me $2,500.
What's great about it: Overall very satisfied for years
What's not so great: Had a significant glitch this year
