Used it for years

At the end, when errors are found - it doesn't provide examples of what the answer should be or include. Also E filing, the software thought I already submitted a duplicate SSN filing. That would be impossible. So I have to file through the mail! What a pain.
What's great about it: Good but still needs improvement.
What's not so great: Still doesn't explain everything!

good first time try

I am a sole proprietor who has paid someone to do my taxes for the past 12 years. wanting to have a better grasp of the whole process, i decided to do my own this year. i was scared to death to do this. this application was very easy to use. of course i have no idea how thorough it was, i'll know that after i mail it in, but i am happy with the experience. when i was confused about something, there was a "learn more" link which explained. i am quite happy, and will use again next year. in fact, I am hoping to review past years using this software.
What's great about it: easy to use, lots of help, clear instructions

More Painful Every Year

You can not file a return when there are estimated entries yet TT does not provide any hints or list of estimated entries.
What's great about it: Complete

If Mi wants taxes to be filed electronically, then there should be NO CHARGE to do this. Until it is free, I will not file MI by e-file.
What's not so great: Charge to e-file is TOO high, some sections don't fit situation with no alternatives available.

The title says it all - 12 consecutive years of confidence in submitting the Tax Return Documentation
What's great about it: Very easy to follow the interview from start to finish
What's not so great: had to contact Intuit to be able to dowenload the State forms

Pretty good data collection

I had to manually access form 1116 to enter the multiple foreign entities in the RIC; somehow my entry for tax exempt interest disappeared (I know it was in there, because I was prompted to answer sourcing questions); I had a multiple state return and TurboTax decided which state was primary (I caught it before I paid for two states' forms, since I file paper for the secondary state).
What's great about it: well organized, help for beginners not invasive at all
What's not so great: Less used data collection still not well-tested
