Over all, a great program. Some instructions confusing or seemingly incomplete. Obviously the programmer understood what to do but it would probably be good to have the product double checked by ordinary "dumb" taxpayers before putting it out.
I've used Turbo Tax for many years. It beats the heck out of waiting in line to see an accountant. With e-filing, I know for sure that my tax returns are delivered on time!
What's great about it: So fast and so easy! Even the Help and FAQ's are right on!
What's not so great: None really. It's just great!
TurboTax was easy to use and covered most of the information I needed within the program itself. However, it was difficult to find information on the carryover of unallowed expenses from 2012, Form 8829. The software also indicated that the sales tax section was not ready for use, even after I updated the program twice within seven days. All in all, Turboax is still a very good program and I will continue to use it to prepare our income tax returns.
What's great about it: Easy to navigate.
What's not so great: Turboax did not import all required information from 2012 return.
I have been using TurboTax for many years and it gets better each year...at least the UI is better. Easy step guides you through the process very well. A bit tedious but very complete. The program is stable and fast. Auto import of brokerages and W-2's is very helpful. Hard to go back to some items (e.g. retirement contributions maximization) at times. A nice new feature is when you go into the list of forms there is a red exclamation mark by any forms that have an error. The location of the error is indicated when you open the form. This made finding and correcting errors much easier. Not always easy to see where all of the data on each line of each form comes from (if the data is calculated).
What's great about it: Easy step, stable, bring in last year's info. Auto import from brokerages
What's not so great: Very cryptic instructions on AMT...poor help at times. No 1041 forms.
