Always reliable

I have used this every year for at least the last 10 years. Better than any tax professional that I've been to. Since I have time to put my information into the program I get the best refunds than I ever did with a CPA in a 1 hour appointment.
What's great about it: easy to use, easy to understand, work on it when you want at your convenience
What's not so great: I can't think of one!!
Pros: I bought or sold investments

TurboTax Home and Business

In some ways there are sections that are harder to use than older versions, I couldn't list them right now I would have to be going thru it to remember. One frustrating thing is when the mailbox icon come up so you can print, it goes to MS Word, and a drop down window pops up requesting what kind of encoding to use. Nothing I choose to encode or decode it will work and at that point you cannot save it as a .pdf so you can print it as a pdf. I had to go back earlier to where you choose what all to print and save it as a .pdf there. Then choose what I want to print out of the entire file. You should make it easier to print where it tells you to print a copy to review. Too difficult this way. I use Windows 7 and I use Microsoft office 207.
What's great about it: It Guides me well, doesnt let me miss anything.
What's not so great: In some ways it is more difficult to use than some of the older versions.

Generally a ggod program but navigating is not easy and time consuming. To enter Royalty income on Sch-E is an impossible task because the program requires information which is not provided by financial advisors.
What's great about it: To complete Form K-1 is very good, no complecations
What's not so great: To enter Royalty income on Schedule E is an impossible task
Pros: I bought or sold investments

MAYBE IT IS JUST ME, OR DO ANYBODY ELSE HAVE AN ISSUE WITH COMPLETING THE 1099 MISC FORM FROM THE BUSINESS PROGRAM.
What's great about it: AVAILABILITY OF FILL OUT 1099 MISC
What's not so great: THE 1099 MISC IS NOT ACCESSABLE ON BUSINESS

Easier to do.

2011 was a confusing nightmare. 2012 was better. I think 2013 is best & easiest. Ease of understanding was taken into account & customers frustration was much less. Thanks for the improvements. Only $12 refund but that's not Turbo taxes fault! Text notice 45 minutes after filing that I was accepted, big thrill. & nice convenience.
What's great about it: Getting easier. Much improvement over past years.
What's not so great: wording & redundancy at times.

Evaluation of Turbo Tax 2013

1. I spent a lot of time correcting errors between 1099's and Schedule E. Royalty received always wanted to go to Sch C, while many needed to go to Sch E. 2. Charities: I entered all my donations separately, then later, the program listed all my charities from last year, asking if I had contributed to any on the list. My first list was already done. I shouldn't be asked twice. 3. I tried to change method of payment for Audit Defense from deducting from my refund, to pay by credit card. Every time, the program asks to save my program first: I say OK, then it shuts off Turbo Tax. I have to restart --- happened with several attempts. 4. The worst of all, program mis-calculates my Louisiana State Return. It apparently took severance tax on oil and gas production, to be state income tax, giving me a big refund from Louisiana. I couldn't figure how to make that correction. Therefore I would not let you e-file my Louisiana return. I do not believe the state owes me anything: I probably owe them. OTHER THAN THAT, THE PROGRAM WAS FINE.
What's great about it: Once the kinks are resolved, the end result is good.
What's not so great: 1099's vs Sch E. Couldn't change pmt method for Audit Defense.
