Very easy to file a return. Using the Home & Business software was a bit difficult to do a basic return though. I had trouble locating where to apply an overpayment. Your help questions were not helpful either.
Paying additional money to efile a state return bothered me too.
What's great about it: efiling
What's not so great: Cost to efile state.

Easy to use, but need to check

On 2012 return after entering Medicare part B premiums where requested it also entered the amount under self employed medical insurance thus claming amount twice. On 2013 return after entering amount of interest on government obligations (on some securities) it assumed it was US government exempt interest income on the state tax return. In both cases I had to delete the erroneous trickle down entries.
What's great about it: Ease of use, thoroughness, links
What's not so great: Twice it trickled down a few entries incorrectly and assumed you would correct.

Disappointing software performance

Even your Tax Expert could not explain in inconsistencies and inaccuracies in this years return. He viewed my efforts on line and was a puzzled as I was and assured me that he would take the specific issues to his supervisor. Not sure if I will try Turbo Tax next year
What's great about it: Asks the right questions to insure an accurate return
What's not so great: Have used TurboTax since 2010. Yrs 1,2,&3 was fine but 2013 version was confusing and inaccurate. Spent 4+ hrs on phone

TurboTax would not Validate or Transmit when I tried to e-File, and kept saying I needed to download the updates, which I did about 20 times. It finally hit me that maybe I needed to quit and restart TurboTax for those updates to take effect. Once I did that, it worked. Please let people know they need to do that. Instead, the message says that it you have trouble e-filing, you can mail your returns. Of course at that point I had already paid to e-file, and I didn't want to mail them. I nearly gave up since there was no indication that a restart was required.
What's great about it: I love TurboTax generally, and will probably always use it.
What's not so great: I had an endlessly frustrating experience when I got to the point of e-filing.
