minnesota return

For both tax years 11 and 12 TT calculations were not accurate and I was given an additional tax bill from the state of minnesota. I am hoping this year they are accurate. If not, I will not do business with you again.
What's not so great: calcuations wrong

Saved my Sanity

I have used TurboTax for the past five years to help file taxes for my and my husband's joint return and my mother's tax return. It has saved me countless hours of frustration I previously experienced before TurboTax when I did these taxes on my own.
Over the last 5 years, I have used TurboTax to navigate through filing taxes for my mother who suffers from dementia and has had a lot of changes to her economic situation as we negotiated getting her into long term care and liquidating her assets to pay for this expensive healthcare expenditure. Handling her trust filing tax obligations and making her tax filing possible for me to complete, TurboTax was a godsend.
For my husband and myself, TurboTax managed our rental property, our transition from healthcare professionals to orchardists, selling of our home and our financial investments in our income tax filings year after year. TurboTax guided me through the maze of tax rules, regulations and forms painlessly and efficiently. The days I would have had to spend on filing my taxes were reduced to 1 day!!

What's great about it: Easy to download information from brokeage accounts, easy guide, software calculation for all worksheets
What's not so great: Waiting for updates to complete taxes (not Turbo Tax issue)
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved, I bought or sold investments

Super Easy!!

I was hesitant to try Turbo Tax, as we are small business owners and some things can get complicated. I am a 22 Year old female with minimal tax filing experience...it is so easy! They are great about explaining things more in-depth if you don't understand something. Turbo Tax is a tax essential every year for me!
What's great about it: Very user friendly!
What's not so great: Can't think of anything I didn't like!

standard deduction page needs to include selection option for medical/ health care premiums.
What's not so great: Almost missed taking off self pay health insurance premiums.

Overall, an excellent program. It seems to be quite comprehensive.
What's great about it: I like the step by step procedure.
What's not so great: Hard to backtrack to a particular point in step by step procedure.

A few glitches but good turnout

I have used Turbo tax for about 12 years now. This year seemed to have some disturbing issues. Not all of my 2012 information carried over - my refund showed $1000 less than what it actually was. After investigating, it seems that my donations did not come forward as they should have. This might have something to do with Intuit converting from It's Deductible within the application to it being online now. I don't remember it being an issue last year. So this comes into play if you really want to compare year over year numbers and tax rates. Mine are now skewed for the 2012 year. Another issue is the business section did not ask me about my household deductions this year. I had to go into it the long way and 'force' it to take me to those screens so I could put in my gas, electric, water numbers to allow a deduction for home based business. Again, not a huge issue but it did waste a fair amount of my time figuring it out. Overall, I am happy with TurboTax and will use it again next year but be careful to double check your numbers and forms - don't want to leave any money on the table for Uncle Sam!
What's great about it: Felt that it really takes alot of the guesswork out of taxes
What's not so great: Had to go over several sections multiple times
