I've been using TurboTax forever with lots of unusual investment considerations. It has always provided great answers. This year's income stream was a little different than in the past. TT walked me through everything and I went from owing about $4000 to get back about $50. I may not have been able to do that had I attempted to do it manually. Thanks for the suggestions, TT.
What's great about it: Quick, easy, lots of documentation
What's not so great: None that I found
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Did 3 returns and no forms to lose!

loved that I could do ours and well as the two teenagers in one place. They're all stored together and they won't "lose" pieces of paper. This is my 14 year using Turbo Tax. Always go with Turbo Tax

THIS YEAR'S VERSION OF TURBO TAX WAS THE MOST DIFFICULT TO USE THUS FAR
What's not so great: 1099 B UPDATES WERE TARDY

great software, pushy promotions

I prefer this over HR Block TaxCut. It's easy to use.
I don't like the repeated requests to join Turbo Tax Advantage, or get an Amazon gift card, or purchase audit protection, etc, etc.
What's great about it: easy to use
What's not so great: pushes too many promotions

My Retirement income is declared as 100% housing allowance tax free. However it was impossible for me to made the taxable amount different that the total amount. I know that I will be challenged on what I did, for I had the same problem with Turbo Tax in 2012. I wish that there was some way have @a Taxable Amount be what came out in the final, rather than 1 Gross Amount

Because the categories and help menus are so thorough, I felt confident that the figures I submitted were accurate. The review of the documents establishing a "risk of audit" ( though not a guarantee of no audit) was low for me so I will be able to sleep at nights. The thoroughness also helped me realize all the things in my small, personal business that had never been deducted before by the high paid tax preparers I have used in the past!

State of OK NOLs will be scary

Not enough of the state of Oklahoma NOL pulls into the program. I was pretty much left on my own there.

Slow And Steady Wins The Race

Doing my taxes with Turbo Tax is actually enjoyable! I have done my taxes by paper return and I was always afraid I had made mistakes and would be audited. Turbo Tax asks easy to follow questions and you just supply the answers plus they offer audit protection.
What's great about it: Most of the instructions were easy to follow
What's not so great: Some of the instructions were in IRS jargon
