Reliable over the years

I have used TurboTax for many years. I use the Home and Business version. It's the tax laws and rules that make filing taxes confusing. I feel that TurboTax does it's best to remove some of that confusion. I will continue to use TurboTax in the future. Being able to bring last years info into the new year saves time, as does importing W-2's and other documents.
What's great about it: Easy to use, reliable, good value
What's not so great: Option to save file not clear.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
There were some areas that I knew I should be giving information that TT didn't ask for. It took some time to find the correct area to force the program into the form that I knew I needed to file.
I know that most people think that if they use TT to do their taxes they don't need to know anything about deductions etc but I find this not to be true.
After e filing and I thought I was done I was prompted to print a form plus two other forms that I needed to mail to the IRS. It would have been helpful if there was a message saying that the IRS required these forms to be mailed instead of allowing me to think that for some reason all the forms were not sent when I e filed.
It would be nice to be able to print the page that says your return was sent with the date and time.
I had a message after entering our HSA contributions that I contributed too much, this was incorrect information. TT must have a glitch.
What's great about it: liked the fact that last years return could be in the system and not have to re enter basic info like name et
What's not so great: Need good basic info about income tax in order to use all your deductions
This was the first time I used TurboTax and I purchased the Premier addition, Investments & Rental Property. However, I had some K1 forms plus some other tax information that required me to upgrade to the TurboTax Home & Business version. The upgrade was easy and very cost effective. As stated in my Pro/Con sections, You should have a check list prior to filling your taxes, detailed records well organized helps you answer the TurboTax questions. I would highly recommend TurboTax to anyone who wants to save $$$ doing their taxes. I had a CPA for several years and noticed some minor typo errors and other issues that TurboTax not only caught but made sure I corrected the errors. The self checking and error indication program using TurboTax is very effective and efficient. The only thing I would recommend as a first time user of TurboTax, make sure you have a copy of your previous year’s tax report and understand the basic format what should go where? This helps when you print out your final copy and correlate the current information with your previous tax records.
What's great about it: The software is well organized and easy to follow but you should have good understanding of the tax items and be well or
What's not so great: The software should provide a basic check list that you could print out prior to starting the TurboTax software.
Overall this is an excellent tax program. Inexpensive and thorough with good downloads including all data from last year. Also financial data from multiple accounts at scottrade.
What's great about it: Easy and accurate and fast
What's not so great: wouldn't always do it "My way"
At first I didn't want to bother with a review, but at the end of the completion process, after e-filing, TurboTax offers help with dealing with the Affordable Care Tax (I mean Act) for next year. Although I am aware, I was impressed that TurboTax looks out for it's customers in this way, giving a heads up about what is to come. I love TurboTax and have been using it for doing my taxes for many years.
What's great about it: easy, intuitive, covers all the bases, convenient, instills confidence for accuracy of the return
What's not so great: unless one knows well how to take full advantage of the deductions, an individual may miss valuable deductions.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
Sometimes when I would leave the program then go back in the program lost answers that I already entered. Thus, I had to answer the questions again. It should retain this information. And yes, I did do a save before each time I exited. This was very frustrating and a waste of time.
What's great about it: It brings information over from prior year
What's not so great: Some things didn't get applied correctly. I had to do it over and over again to get it to take.
