Every year the same problem occurs. Divorced parents. Each claims child care deductions and pay for their own child care. But every year one of us can not claim the deductions and efile because it says that child's SS# had already been used. True it has but have both paid child care for that child. Then I have to mail it in every year. I understand only one parent can claim the child deduction but both should be able to claim the child care. Who ever finishes their taxes second always has a problem when you go to e file them. You end up having to mail them in.
When dealing with loss carryovers, the software asked me for information from last years return. I used turbotax last year. It opened last years return when I started this year's return. It already had this information. Why ask me for it? Enter key doesn't work for form submission in many cases. Software also asked me for my street address when I had already entered it when starting the return. Software needs some work boys.
I have used Turbo Tax for more than 10 years; at least since 2001.
This is the first time I used the business edition. I think you leave too many things unexplained.
This is the first time I used the State edition. If I had not already done my own state taxes, I would not have known what was going on with the state process (Illinois).
Each year it seems the software assumes just a little more and is just a little less clear how to use.
Also, it would be helpful if you would actually list the forms that were changed during an update. It is disconcerting to find changes being made on April 3, for example. If I knew a little about the change, I would not worry. I don't think I should have to hunt down a simple summary on the internet. Details of the change, yes, but summary, no.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
Have had computer issues last two years. Each year I had no ability to retrieve prior records. Last year I had a TurboTax account and thought I would be able to pull the prior year. Was unable. This year I had actually tried H&R software and when my computer crashed I converted to TT again. Thank you
