Turbotax is so user friendly and accounts for everything. It's like having a personal CPA in your home. Due to the content being so thorough, it has also taught me additional knowledge which is so helpful.
What's great about it: The program and its sequence is so logical. Saves time by enabling customer to import data from investment sales.
Fed program is good and would recommend it to others, even those who have a fairly complicated return. However, for the past 3-4 years I've had problems with the State program which can be confusing and have actually taken me significantly more time (trying to figure out stuff) than the data input for the Federal program. Even the TurboTax support personnel, who were as helpful as they could be, recognized that the several problems I've had were related to the software.
What's great about it: Fed program intuitive with good support
What's not so great: Past 3-4 years State programs frustrating
I have used Turbo-Tax for a number of years and find it simple to use. Because I collect my data through the year, it is easy to input the entries and also easy to review. I use both the guided interview and the direct access to forms. Since I am retired but also have self-employment income, the return is somewhat complicated. I can complete all the entries in a couple of entries (bringing information forward from last year) and then it is a matter of checking and verifying input to see if it is complete and accurate. I used to do the returns manually and dreaded the hours long process of filling in the forms, looking up definitions and calculations required. Turbo-Tax is a breeze in comparison and well worth the small expense. Thank you for helping simplify my life.
What's great about it: The step=by-step interview, simple directions
What's not so great: When one sub step is finished, the program goes back to the beginning of the list - cumbersome
