Helpful, trusted product; We've used for years!

We are somewhat old fashioned and used to doing our taxes (the long forms) with pencil and paper, gaining a full understanding of what information was needed in various sections and on various lines and how the information provided was being computed to result in our final taxes owed (resulting in either additional payment needed or a refund being returned). We started using TurboTax approximately five years ago; and, in time, have grown to trust the product. At times, it is still a bit uncomfortable merely answering the questions, trusting that behind the scenes the program is inserting the correct information into the correct places and computing correctly. A MAJOR advantage is that once you use TurboTax, personalized information can be transferred into subsequent years from the previous tax year TurboTax files and a comparison of the two years is provided. We also appreciate, and purchase, the TurboTax Audit Defense.
What's great about it: Makes filing a breeze ~
What's not so great: Answering questions doesn't always allow for full understanding of behind the scenes computations.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I've been using TurboTax for over 13 years and see the massive amounts of improvements made each year. I've recently started using using Home and Business and love the improvements. Unfortunately I will have to take a break for the next few years because of changes in life experiences that will require a professional there to explain every step. Once I adjust my level of understanding, I will come right back to TurboTax
What's great about it: Expter explaination and demonstration
What's not so great: none

Doesn't sort payees alphabetically for 1099-MISC. Whether by first or last name, Turbo Tax would be a lot easier to use if it could sort payees alphabetically. The reason being that majority of accounting reports would list payees or employees alphabetically by last name. Currently Turbo Tax lists payees in the order they are entered from year to year. So over the years the payees on Turbo Tax will be listed in no particular order. This makes it more time consuming when you enter the amounts paid to recurring payees because you have to search for them on Turbo Tax, especially when you have over 20 payees. If Turbo Tax could sort the payees alphabetically each year when it transfers the prior year's data, that would be great!
What's not so great: Doesn't sort payees alphabetically for 1099-MISC.

Overall I am very happy with turbo tax, I find it easy to manage and use as well as a good tool to do taxes yourself, without hiring an accountant.
What's great about it: easy to use
What's not so great: could use a little more expinations on deductions

This is a very good tool, but when you skip one area its hard to go back and pick up where you stopped. For example I have 2 part time jobs I could not go back and complete the information for both jobs. It didn't ask if I had expenses for each job. Membership dues, license, and education all was missed because I could go back to complete them.
What's great about it: Doing your own taxes at home
What's not so great: Hard to go back and review if you have more than one job

Iowa is hard to understand and TurboTax did not help me answer some of the questions so I just guessed.
What's great about it: Federal is good
What's not so great: State had little help and no place to get more information

It was good. The real test will be for next year in dealing with the Affordable Care Act. I am a member of a Christian health care sharing ministry and will hope that I will be able to easily navigate this Turbo Tax software in that regard.
What's great about it: Easy to read category structure
What's not so great: Could'nt find any this year but next year I will be looking for exemption for being in a health care sharing ministry.
