when back tracking thru the step by step, sometimes TT doesn't remember my previous entry and requires I do it again. Entries should be "sticky" until I deliberately make a change.
TurboTax has been 100% accurate by my observations over the last 12 to 15 years. The program guides you through what's needed in logical order. If you aren't careful, you may answer questions in a way that leads you off track, and getting back to the place to make the correction requires knowledge of the tax forms. I recommend printing the state return when trying to understand the state taxes. If you are new to taxes, you should also get the federal forms and instructions, if you want to understand what you're doing, which I recommend.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments
If you have to go back, then you have to go through everything you already did to get back to where you started. Took us 3 hours to file this year, usually only take about an hour!! That's going down hill pretty fast!!
I like most everything about Turbo tax except it's handling of IRA pensions and Social Security deductions on my state return.
The total IRA and SS Income reported on my Federal return didn't match the deductions on my State return and no explanation was given for the amount entered.
To find out why I had to delve deep into the state instructions to find that they allow different amounts for different ages.
I think Turbo Tax should have popped up an explanation of why they didn't match.
