I use TurboTax to prepare my tax return for myself self-employed as an engineering consultant and contractor. Therefore, I file a Schedule C for my income (net profit or loss from my business). I also use Quicken for tracking personal finances and QuickBooks for my business accounting. So, all my accounting and tax preparation software is from Intuit.
Just like with my personal and business accounting software, TurboTax for the most part is easy to use and very intuitive. To play is safe, I work through all the sections and questions presented in TurboTax including those sections that don't pertain to me directly. This ensures that I don't miss or skip over anything important. Using TurboTax, I takes me about 10 to 20 hours to complete my tax returns from start to finish. If I were to attempt to generate my tax returns manually without the aid of tax preparation software, it would easily take me at least 40 to 60 hours to prepare my tax returns. So, TurboTax works well for me saving time and the cost of hiring a professional tax preparation service.
I find the software easy to follow and have been using it for years. The EasyGuide is the best way to go, asking the right probing questions to ensure you get the most from your return.
