Using Turbotax for the past 5 or so years has been a great experience. The process is easy to use and the ability to file electronically very convenient.

Lifesaver

Turbo Tax enables me to do my own taxes without the outrageous cost of hiring a tax accountant. I have been using TT for a few years now, and I wouldn't be without it at tax time. Thanks for being a lifesaver!

Federal Good But State Not So Much

You need to work on the state education deduction. It has to be amended every time. Both last year and this year, it messed up my original entries. I have had to back through the return several times to get it right.
What's great about it: Federal Return is straightforward
What's not so great: Minnesota State Return was very frustrating
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Heuristic Tool for the DIY crowd

I find Turbo Tax to be a very easy to use software. I have used it now for over 20 years, and occasionally still use the Easy Step to get started, but like the direct Forms access more. I also like the Error Check, the Audit Check and the Deductions review.
It is also great to have digital access to over 20 years of taxes and to see 2-year and 5-year comparison as well as National averaged for similar returns. The electronic submission is a great asset as well and allows the last minute submittal to be completely painless.
What's great about it: Easy to navigate and comforting videos and info access
What's not so great: Can be overwhelming in terms of detail, but great for info and speed
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Easy step was missing items related to retirement contributions. It was extremely hard to find your help number. The page with community help is useless. I do have to add that once I got through to your help line your rep was very patient and helpful and showed me a work-around to get past the flaw in your Easy step.
What's great about it: Basic tax program good
What's not so great: Easy step defective re retirement and you hide your help number

Another Stellar Software Performance

Kudos to your Customer Service Agent Dorothy located somewhere in the Midwest for recognizing I had not downloaded the software correctly and walking me through the process step-by-step until I was up and running properly and directing me how to get to some forms AGAIN as a step-by-step process. She was patient and an absolute joy to work with.
I cannot imagine doing my taxes any other way than through Turbo Tax. I can assure you I will talk about my positive experiences filing my 2011 - 2013 taxes (late of course) but I assure you I will be timely in 2014 and will talk about your product every chance I can.
