A very thorough and thoughtful way of doing your taxes. Every nook and cranny of your taxes are covered with no stone left unturned at finding deductions. I have been with Turbo-Tax for many years and have never been disappointed.
What's great about it: thorough
What's not so great: none

Excellent But Flawed

I had only one problem, but it is potentially very disturbing. On my first run through, I was awarded a Federal refund of almost $2000. After I completed the review process, the software claimed my return was "error free". However, I had a bad feeling about my handling of a retroactive Social Security lump sum payment for tax year 2012. (I had been directed to this portion of the return by the review process and I believe I followed its instructions.) Second time through, I think I handled the situation correctly. As a result, I owed almost $2000. Again, the software congratulated me for an "error free" return. I think the true meaning of "error free" should be more prominently displayed by the product -- the software is not clairvoyant and there is always a danger of "garbage in, garbage out". An additional problem complicating this situation was the clunky interface for correcting software identified errors.
That said, I still believe that Turbo Tax is an extremely valuable tool for efficient and effective tax return preparation.
What's great about it: Comprehensive, great link to my broker
What's not so great: Occasionally confusing
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Every Year it's easier

Every year it gets easier to file with Turbotax.
I like in particular the seamless transfer of info from previous years which saves time in completing. It also avoids possible errors.
I intend to use Turbotax again in the future, and recommend it to my friends...
What's great about it: Excellent transfer of info. from prior years. Questions make it easy to go through different sections.
What's not so great: Sometimes questions are not very clear and take some interpretation...!!!

Between good paperwork and receipt keeping, patience, and the ease of TurboTax taking things one step at a time even a layman, like me, can do their own taxes efficiently and effectively.
What's great about it: Able to take the time and do it myself. As it is said, If you want the job done right, do it yourself.
What's not so great: None.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Scary but good

I have retired. I think my tax picture is greatly simplified. I spent a great deal of money with an accountant before. For the past two years of my retirement I could not equate the level of effort of that accountant with the amount he charged me. This year, Turbo Tax I'm still shaking, but I did it.
What's great about it: The lead-through function is seamless, the online help is magnificent
What's not so great: There are abbreviations used that do not correspond with entries on IRS forms—especially for the state forms.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

TurboTax is Tops

I have been using TurboTax since it first came out probably 20 plus years. I have never been disappointed in its capabilities that keep me from hunting up directions. It does it for me. As my return has gotten more complicated each year, it has kept up with it, something I probably could not have done correctly by myself.
What's great about it: Does all calculations and places them in correct field
What's not so great: Occasionally messes up on printing sheets until forms are corrected
