The instructions were very easy to follow and if you only have a regular return it would be very simple using this. The extras are only a little complicated.
I've used TurboTax for years Overall I find it easy to use and like the functionality. One thing, however, has been an issue in every version of the program. When TT finds an error during the review, it gives you no information other than "box xx must be completed/correct". I never have a clue what box on what form they're referring to and they don't provide that information. It would be helpful if they returned you to the section/page where that error is addressed so you could understand how to correct the error.
I have used TurboTax for over 10 years. It makes it very easy to carry over standard information and make comparisons from year to year. I find the systematic entry system easy to follow. However, sometimes when it is necessary to go back and change an entry, difficulties can be encountered. Also sometimes it is necessary to go to the forms to make an entry or correction. This year most times when I opened the program it said there was an update which I had to download. It seemed like a lot of updates, and maybe my MacMini was not retaining the update each time. All in all, TurboTax makes completing and filing tax returns and maintaining records very efficient. I plan to use it again next year.
Due to a 40,000 exclusion for pension income in Kentucky, my federal itemized deduction for sales tax is greater than the state income tax deduction. Turbo tax tells me that is the case but then asked me which I wanted to take. I almost missed selecting the larger deduction. I suggest the software should select the greater of the two and then tell you, rather than the other way around. But, you are the experts so I assume it is that way for a reason. I have used Turbo Tax for as long as I can remember and would not consider using any other software.
TurboTax is relatively easy to use, walks you through step by step for each area of your return. The only issue I ran across is when printing forms out to mail in, the very bottom is cut off.
