Remember where I was when I close the program and start there when I start the program.
Be able to print double sided forms. The program should be smart enough to know when a form is two sided and be able to print both sides on one sheet to save paper.
Turbo Tax is very simple to use even if you know nothing about preparing taxes. The program takes you through step-by-step questions to ensure you are entering everything to maximize your refund and complete your taxes properly. As long as you have all your documents together you can complete your taxes in very little time.
Turbo Tax also remembers carry-forward dollar amounts, depreciation schedules, etc and will automatically include those items from your prior year into your current year return.
For those of us with experience, I wish Turbo Tax would you tell you the result of your entries with an explanation. For example, your home office expenses did not meet the 2% rule and therefore will not be included as a deduction. This would save time in my review process.
In the error check portion of the program, Turbo Tax takes you directly to the IRS form to make the correction. This makes sense for someone who is familiar with the forms, but if you are using the step-by-step entering process, this seems confusing. In the step-by-step process, Turbo Tax does not give you the reason nor direct connection to the IRS form as it takes you through questions nor when you enter numbers. For example, let's say you have sales of stocks. Turbo Tax leads you through an easy process to enter the proceeds from the sales. Then in error check, Turbo Tax denotes the error as a blank on Form 8949 box (e). That's great that Turbo Tax caught it. But how can you enter the correct information when you don't know where in the step-by-step process this was compiled? I like that the actual IRS form is shown, but Turbo Tax should also provide a link back to the step in which this information should have been captured.
Turbotax is easy to use and makes doing taxes a breeze. It's step by step approach makes it understandable and quick. Allows for numerous reviews of information and ensures you are taking into account all aspects of your tax responsibility.
