This is a great way of filing your taxes....but be careful if you receive money such as pensions from overseas. TurboTax will not allow you to file electronically.
It took a very long time and many reviews and revisions were required to file an accurate return. In general, though, I saved money by Turbo Tax calculating the math, importing financial investment information, and finding federal tax credits for me. Without Turbo Tax, I would have spent hours with a tax preparation expert. Telephone support was great. Thanks John!
This year's edition (and I go back to when I got MacInTax on floppy discs) is a noticable improvement from recent years. Careful wording of the interviews show solid work. Be on the lookout for / work on /these issues in 2014: --For us Sched C types, make sure that health insurance is put in the return where it is most advantageous. In Sked C? Or as part of itemized deductions? --Also, if we tweak the Sched C with new-found expenses, the "maximize" feature on SEP deductions does not recalculate accurately through the return. The old number showed up as an error someplace just before I filed. --For Massachusetts filers, attention needs to be focused on the Health Insurance question. Right now it is a tad cumbersome--why ask about the coverage of each and every family member one at a time? Overall, a big improvement. This is the first year I wasn't stymied by something--came close though!
