Pretty smooth sailing until we tried to efile. Had to shut down and restart to get the updates to take effect. A little frustrating, but overall happy. Done!
What's great about it: All went well until
What's not so great: We tried to efile
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

home and business 2014 turbotax review

In general the importing of last year and doing this years taxes are easy. There were a few things that I feel could use a bit more information than provided. The long term health care premiums had questions about percentage for me and my spouse but there is just a premium I pay for both of us. Also in the Oregon state there were questions about this premium that were a bit hard to know the answer. Also in the Oregon state the forms TM and SP-2013 didn't seem to flow as easily as most of the other parts. I stumbled on a couple places where the help wasn't available.
What's great about it: generally very easy to use
What's not so great: There are a few places when some help would be useful
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

We switched from a paid professional when fees grew exhorbitant and our situation was the same as it had been a few years in a row. That way we had guidance from previous years as well as what Turbo Tax could offer. While there were still some confusing situations - it will run whatever numbers you put in, so you have to make sure you are doing your best to enter it the right way - we were able to work it out. The filing process got held up by an update situation but also finally sorted itself out. This is the second Intuit product I've used, and I am generally impressed that they've found a way to guide a limited business-minded individual through the process.
What's great about it: Easy to follow for the most part, takes care of the details, good help tips, and pretty good FAQS etc
What's not so great: Not TT's fault, but the government pubs are still hard to follow; this is where the FAQS helped

Works well, a bit pricey for states.

TurboTax usually works fine, occasionally certain situations are a bit convoluted in the interview - usually in Schedule C or royalty items or multi-state info. The wording can be aggravating and obtuse at times.
The price for extra state programs and filing fees gets a bit ridiculous - adding up to more than the original TurboTax program.
What's great about it: Basically covers all tax situations.
What's not so great: Price for filing of multiple states is ridiculously high.

Pay more attention to the contrast between characters in the program that must be read and the background or surrounding colors. Some of them are difficult to read, even easy to miss.

Good software

I continue to like Turbo Tax, as it's generally easy to use for a non-business/tax user like myself. It was difficult to understand what exactly the software wanted me to enter under the recent addition of an old vehicle (for business use) of a personal car though. I have used Turbo Tax successfully for many years now and will continue to do so in the future.
What's great about it: generally easy to understand, cheap to e-file
What's not so great: some explanations could be better
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments
