1099 for Business a problem
on April 5, 2014

I really had a problem entering my 1099 information for business expense. I finally gave up and located it in part of my expenses that caused me to write and send the 1099 to my subcontractor. The system wanted to charge me 150.00+ for sending any at all of which I only had one. The program would not let me enter the amounts and the Name of the company to list!! In previous years, I had no problem with this.
What's not so great: Hard to edit due to layers of entries

Left me high and dry on state K1s, just as in past years. Separately, import of brokerage transactions from federal to state was full of bugs, even though the info was perfect in Federal return. Example: "Bought/Sold 200 shares of ________ ", leaving me to scour my records for which stock the transaction referred to and forcing me to manually write in correct info on printed return (I had intended to e-file but could not do so as a result).
I could go on, but suffice it to say, I will probably go elsewhere to do my taxes next year.
What's great about it: importing brokerage info to TT
What's not so great: State (PA) return
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Turbo Tax was difficult to use, not user friendly and did not explain things in simple terms.

No refund this year, and no fines, it's all good!
What's great about it: Guide was good. Getting to forms was easy.
What's not so great: Finding certain topics was difficult. Like next year tax calculations for estimated payments.
