I have used TT for several years. I like that they are up to date on all the new and confusing tax issues. I feel good that I can trust that my return is accurate and they have included all the stuff I wouldn't otherwise know about. The software is easy to use, particularly with the wizards that guide you. I like that I can see my refund information change before my eyes. I always know where I stand, even if I owe taxes. Customer service has always been very professional and courteous when I have needed them. I like that I don't have to enter my last year's information. All my personal info is there, all I have to do is input any changes from my W-2 or other docs. Very convenient, I can do it from my personal computer and never leave the house, even to file. Cost is very reasonable. All in all, Turbo Tax has made what could be a very stressful ordeal much easier. I recommend using this software.
What's great about it: Accurate Calculations, Auto Transfer of Previous year info, easy to file
What's not so great: Sometimes confusing on some issues, needs links to irs pubs,

OK but for one thing

We were not able to enter mileage for volunteer activities, etc. We even went back and looked for them.
Also, when it went over errors, we corrected some about a truck we no longer owned and our tax went up approx. $200. We don't know why and think that it was some error in the program but were not able to delete what we had put in about the truck, so paid the $200 extra.
What's great about it: Ease of use
What's not so great: It never asked for volunteer expenses, such as mileage, food, etc.

turbo tax is really easy to use

Turbo Tax is very simple to use even if you know nothing about preparing taxes. The program takes you through step-by-step questions to ensure you are entering everything to maximize your refund and complete your taxes properly. As long as you have all your documents together you can complete your taxes in very little time.
Turbo Tax also remembers carry-forward dollar amounts, depreciation schedules, etc and will automatically include those items from your prior year into your current year return.
For those of us with experience, I wish Turbo Tax would you tell you the result of your entries with an explanation. For example, your home office expenses did not meet the 2% rule and therefore will not be included as a deduction. This would save time in my review process.
In the error check portion of the program, Turbo Tax takes you directly to the IRS form to make the correction. This makes sense for someone who is familiar with the forms, but if you are using the step-by-step entering process, this seems confusing. In the step-by-step process, Turbo Tax does not give you the reason nor direct connection to the IRS form as it takes you through questions nor when you enter numbers. For example, let's say you have sales of stocks. Turbo Tax leads you through an easy process to enter the proceeds from the sales. Then in error check, Turbo Tax denotes the error as a blank on Form 8949 box (e). That's great that Turbo Tax caught it. But how can you enter the correct information when you don't know where in the step-by-step process this was compiled? I like that the actual IRS form is shown, but Turbo Tax should also provide a link back to the step in which this information should have been captured.
What's great about it: easy to use, saves prior year info
What's not so great: linking errors back to questions/data entry
Pros: I bought or sold investments
