OK but for one thing

We were not able to enter mileage for volunteer activities, etc. We even went back and looked for them.
Also, when it went over errors, we corrected some about a truck we no longer owned and our tax went up approx. $200. We don't know why and think that it was some error in the program but were not able to delete what we had put in about the truck, so paid the $200 extra.
What's great about it: Ease of use
What's not so great: It never asked for volunteer expenses, such as mileage, food, etc.

turbo tax is really easy to use

Turbo Tax is very simple to use even if you know nothing about preparing taxes. The program takes you through step-by-step questions to ensure you are entering everything to maximize your refund and complete your taxes properly. As long as you have all your documents together you can complete your taxes in very little time.
Turbo Tax also remembers carry-forward dollar amounts, depreciation schedules, etc and will automatically include those items from your prior year into your current year return.
For those of us with experience, I wish Turbo Tax would you tell you the result of your entries with an explanation. For example, your home office expenses did not meet the 2% rule and therefore will not be included as a deduction. This would save time in my review process.
In the error check portion of the program, Turbo Tax takes you directly to the IRS form to make the correction. This makes sense for someone who is familiar with the forms, but if you are using the step-by-step entering process, this seems confusing. In the step-by-step process, Turbo Tax does not give you the reason nor direct connection to the IRS form as it takes you through questions nor when you enter numbers. For example, let's say you have sales of stocks. Turbo Tax leads you through an easy process to enter the proceeds from the sales. Then in error check, Turbo Tax denotes the error as a blank on Form 8949 box (e). That's great that Turbo Tax caught it. But how can you enter the correct information when you don't know where in the step-by-step process this was compiled? I like that the actual IRS form is shown, but Turbo Tax should also provide a link back to the step in which this information should have been captured.
What's great about it: easy to use, saves prior year info
What's not so great: linking errors back to questions/data entry
Pros: I bought or sold investments

TurboTax price recommendation
on April 5, 2014

Pricing of this product should include pricing for state e-filing.. State filing should be built-in and free. To many states it is free.
What's great about it: quick import from many locations now.. awesome w2 and other import features
What's not so great: Pricing in stores should include efiling (not an additional cost)

Overall, a great way to do a thorough job on taxes.
What's great about it: Step by step clear instructions are easy to follow.
What's not so great: When I did the review for my husband's company trucks, I wasn't sure which truck was being referred to. Hope its right.
